GALLZEIN IN THE SILVER REGION KARWENDEL
Gallzein is a small, idyllic municipality with around 700 inhabitants, located in the Schwaz district of Tyrol. Situated at an altitude of about 800 meters, the village offers stunning views of the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. Known for its peaceful and nature-connected atmosphere, Gallzein is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation. The region is characterized by scenic hiking trails and natural experiences, while its proximity to the Achental and Zillertal offers endless possibilities. This charming place is perfect for families, nature lovers, and those in search of tranquility.
Our region is known as the Silver Region due to the many silver mines that were operated here in the Middle Ages. One of these can be visited in nearby Schwaz. You can find more attractions here.
The Silver Region Karwendel North of the Inn Valley
On the opposite, northern side of the Inn Valley in Tyrol begins the Karwendel mountain range. From the holiday paradise Achensee in the east to the Wetterstein Mountains in the west, one peak follows the next. The region offers hiking trails, climbing routes, ski tours, mountain huts, alpine pastures, and bivouac shelters for adventurous outings. There are also several cable cars, funiculars, and the famous cog railway from Jenbach to Lake Achensee.
Large parts of the Karwendel are protected as the Karwendel Nature Park, offering guests untouched nature and plenty of information. From Chalet Rasten, it’s just a stone’s throw to the Karwendel mountains.
