Our rustic rooms, the cozy Stube (lounge), and the functional yet inviting kitchen offer plenty of space for a varied and relaxing holiday in one of Austria’s most beautiful regions, in Tyrol.

Three bathrooms, one of them with a bathtub, ensure a “traffic-free” morning routine even when the house is fully occupied.
Hot water and cozy warmth throughout the house are provided by our central heating system.

The Great Misfortune: The Farm Burns Down

In 1848, the family was struck by a tragic event. The entire estate burned down. At the back of the farm building, a footpath led toward the village of Buch. At night, people used so-called “Buchln” (torches) for better visibility. One late evening, someone walked by with such a torch and stopped to look at the flax bundles stored in an open shed. Whether a spark ignited the fire or the torch came too close to the flax is unknown – but the flax caught fire. Within a short time, the entire property was engulfed in flames. Strong föhn winds caused the fire to spread rapidly. Only the livestock could be saved – the farm burned down to its foundations. At that time, the Rastenhof was located slightly further north, where today the orchard stands. With the strong support of the local community, the house and farm buildings were rebuilt in the same year.

Complete Renovation and a New Chapter

In 2010, Manfred Brunner and his wife Sissy decided to carry out a full renovation of the Rastenhof. Great importance was placed on preserving the original rustic structure while carefully combining it with modern architecture.
Since then, the farmhouse has been successfully rented out to holiday guests.
